Using your stamps in different ways…

Today I wanted to share with you some samples I made using a set of Rare Earth stamps.

I am a card maker at heart but love to also use a product in more ways than they were originally intended, this can me home decor, 3D projects or even in this case Pyrography.

The first of the images is a wooden coaster. I used the stamp and Stazon ink to create an image on the wood. I then used this as the guide to burn the lines in using a Pyrography tool, I then used different heat settings to create shade and texture.

The cards are made using a combination of both water based and alcohol based colouring mediums. I generally use water based mediums to create backgrounds as you can create some stunning effects and there is a lot of flexibility. My favourite medium to colour images is alcohol markers, I use both Spectrum Noir pens and more recently I have been using Ohuhu pens, these are a great cheaper alternative to the branded pens out there. They lay down of colour is really smooth, you need to make sure that you create your own colour swatches though as the colour shown on the lid does not match the colour in the pen!! Don’t let that put you off though as it’s always good practice to create your own swatches anyway, and if you aren’t sure if the colouring medium is for you it is a fairly inexpensive introduction.

There is also two pieces of home decor. I love how the light box turned out and the Zebra picture is so fun and vibrant.

All of these were created using one set of stamps, you can do so much, don’t just think paper, think fabric, wood, acetate, vinyl, the list goes on! You can create such different looks by just varying both the material you work on and the materials you work with.

I hope you like them and maybe get a bit of Crafty inspiration from them.

Happy Crafting xoxo
