Using your existing patterned papers and your toner foiling machine.

Something a bit different today, I was putting away all my goodies from the recent Hunkydory goody box that I shared and I came across my folder of double sided papers that I have accumulated from a whole range of Hunkydory collections And it gave me an idea! These papers are double sided so perfect for flowers as you then still get to see both sides, so I wondered whether I could create a cutting file and a print file to utilise the paper with my foiling.

So I used Affinity Designer to draw a rose petal shape, and then created an offset pattern inside the petal shape, this would be the print file. I then fitted as many as I could on an A4 size document and exported a pdf file, for printing and a svg file for use with my digital cutting machine.

The printing element went perfectly, and I then used my Bright Pink foil to add the accents. The more tricky bit was lining up the cutting file with the printed image to cut on the Cricut. Once I had got the positioning right I used a Sharpie to mark the mat so I can now easily align any future sheets.

I then used a pokey tool (anything thin and cylindrical will work) to add some shape to the edges and then created the rose shape using the petals and some hot glue.

Here is the result…

It is hard to show how the foil catches the light as it moves in a photo, but it really elevates the rose. I am currently putting together some instructions and then I will add the template svg to my shop if anyone wants to try and recreate this at home.

Hope everyone had a relaxing Easter Sunday.

more soon xoxo
