How to create depth in your coloured stamped images…

Hi crafty people, I promised a while back to some more detailed posts on different colouring methods. Today I want to share with you how I colour in stamped images, using both alcohol markers and wax based pencils.

I have a couple of different sets of alcohol markers, I have spectrum noir, Hunkydory Prism Markers and Ohuhu, with the latter being a super affordable range of pens. I really like how both the Spectrum Noir and Ohuhu colour, I find the colours on the Ohuhu can be not quite as vibrant as the Spectrum Noir pens and the colour on the lid is often not a true representation of the colour in the pen. That said all you need is to complete a swatch chart and use that as your reference point not the lid of the pen! The prism markers are probably my least favourite of the three, I am not a big fan of the barrel shape and they don’t do a brush tip version.

I have used my Ohuhu markers for this project, they are actually really nice to colour with.

As the colours aren’t quite as vibrant as I would ideally like, I like to use my Spectrum noir colour blend pencils over the top. This really adds vibrancy to your colouring and I think it really makes the images stand out. These pencils are very affordable, they are often on good offers so keep your eyes open for them. They are a wax based pencil and the colour is highly pigmented.

Here you can see the process I use:-

Hope this is helpful and you can see colouring really isn’t complicated and that it is super achievable and you don’t have to have the really expensive pens!

Xoxo
