Combining foiling with coloured print.

I was asked whether I would be able to create a Word Art image for a cricket loving boy for his birthday. My reply… could I… hmmm let me think… it’s made of paper isn’t it… then of course I can!

So I was given the words to use and asked to make it in shades of blue. I thought it would look great if I combined inkjet printed shades of blue with elements printed in toner and foiled in blue.

To do this you need to create the image in two layers, one which you can print on the inkjet and the other that you can print on a laser printer in toner. The tricky bit is lining the two up, as my laser printer margins are not the same as my inkjet!

I printed off the inkjet layers first and then the toner layer second, and then used my blue foil to adhere to the toner. I then layered the image onto adorable scorable from hunkydory to give a good rigidity and strength to the final product.

My top tip to work out the best way to align your printers is to print a test shape on each printer on to the same piece of paper. From this you can work out the difference between the two and adjust accordingly.
