A Rose by any other name…

So it's looking good I am onto day 2!

Today I want to share with you a rose that I made and decided to see how long it would take my husband to realise it wasn't actually real...

I made this using white flower forming foam, this is actually fleurs white foam I have used, but there are others out there on the market. Make sure you look for the flower forming foam though, it is very different to the craft foam we use for kids crafting, it is much thinner. This is a link to a Crafters Companion one you can get on Amazon, to give you an idea of what you are looking for.

You can either use a rose petal shaped die something like this or you can do as I did and just cut the petals free hand based loosely on the shape you can see in the dies. You will need around 20 petals, you can fold the foam over and cut out 3 or 4 at a time, you don't have to cut the individually.

To colour the petals I used a very technical piece of equipment... a baby wipe... and some basic artists pastels something like this you then gently use your finger in the baby wipe, and gently wipe over your pastel to get some colour and then wipe onto each petal.

Once you have added the colour you can gently manipulate using either a ball tool or your fingers to creat the petal shape.

Take a piece of florists wire, and starting at the centre building outwards add your petals and fix in place. I have used hot glue to fix in place, just be careful of your fingers!

All that remains for you to do is to then pop on your plant and see how long it takes unsuspecting visitors to notice 😉

Roses are really beautiful flowers and a rose can brighten anyone's day...

Have a lovely Sunday everyone and Crafty Hugs to you all xx
